Hi There!

The NaNo Project is related to the National Novel Writing Month. The event starts November 1st and ends November 30th. The idea is to write 75 pages (or 50,000 words) by the end of the month. You can read more about this program here! Now, this is not my first encounter with NaNo WriMo. When I attended - ahem, "visited" - VCU in Richmond, VA I knew a guy named Jun who submitted something every year to NaNo WriMo. I was intrigued, but like many writers, procrastinated and missed year after year of opportunity to write not something great, not something horrible, but something!

This year, NaNo WriMo came up for the first time in what feels like centuries. The timing of it all and the allure of getting an idea, months old at this point, down on paper simply clicked. So, here I am.

75 Pages. 50,000 Words. 1 Month.

Challenging? Yes. Impossible? No.

The last few weeks have been spent re-gathering research and material for the story The Anchoress. The next few days will be a dance and jig known as "hammering out a decent outline", celebrating the last remnants of my freedom on Halloween night at the Myers House , and then willingly launching myself into the isolation only a fellow writer - and mad person - would understand, all of which will hopefully culminate into a story that possesses no run-on sentences like the one you've just experienced first hand, here, at NaNo Project.

I know, it all sounds very healthy.

If anyone follows this, know that you will be reading extremely rough writing. The idea is to get the novel down, start to finish, in one month and then edit it. So, be kind, and keep that in mind. Beyond this, I am up for any feedback. The good, the bad, the ugly, and all that. I would really appreciate it, as it will help me greatly when I finally do sit down and start editing.

Tune in Nov. 1 for the first installment of The Anchoress by, well, me! Until then, have a great Halloween.
